Merry Late Christmas

Merry Late Christmas everyone! It was a pretty busy day yesterday, so I could not get a Christmas wish onto my blog until today. I hope it was a wonderful Christmas! It was mine and Ryan's first Christmas together! :)

Seed of Chucky

Look at what Bret makes me do. That's me in the middle wrapped in swaddling clothes.

No snow.

Waited all day and guess what, yeah, that's right, no snow here in Midway. But southern Indiana got about 10 inches and probably will get 10 inches more tonight.

Winter Concert

I had my first concert as a teacher last night at the Western Hills High School auditorium. It was a lot of fun and the kids did pretty well. The program consisted of:

Beginning Chorus:
Viva la musica-Opening procession/round by Michael Praetorius (a cappella)
Cantaremos-Spanish dance song arranged by Ramon Noble (a cappella)
Every Valley-arranged by John Ness Beck (piano)
Keep Your Lamps-Spiritual arranged by Andre Thomas (a cappella)
Carols Around-Compilation of carols and Dona nobis pacem by Carl Nygard Jr. (piano)

Chamber Choir:
How Merrily We Live-English madrigal by Michael East (a cappella)
Mon coeur se recommande a vous-French chanson by Jean-Baptiste Weckerlin (a cappella)
All My Trials-Bahamian spiritual by Norman Luboff (a cappella)
Lo, how a Rose e'er Blooming-Christmas carol by Michael Praetorius (a cappella)
Controppunto bestiale alle mente-Counterpoint by Adriano Bachieri (a cappella)

Chorale:
Laudate by Knut Nystedt (a cappella)
Adoramus te by Jacob Clemens non Papa (a cappella)
Kyrie from Mass in G by Franz Schubert (piano/violin)
Lamb of God by F. Melius Christiansen (a cappella)
Can't Buy Me Love by Lennon/McCartney (a cappella)
Carol of the Bells by Leontovich/Wilhousky (a cappella)
Irish Blessing by James Moore (a cappella)

I was happy that the kids were able to pull off an almost entirely a cappella concert. It's been a lot of hard work with some complaining and grumbling along the way, but I think they were happy with the end result last night. They were very energized for the concert and excited to sing. I was proud of them.
