Happy New Year!

Yeah, yeah, I know I haven't been posting lately, but what else do I have to do this New Year's Eve?
I hope everyone's 2006 year is wonderful!

Secrets of the Sexes

(Yes Bret, I copied this from your blog.)
Some researchers say that men can have 'women's brains' and that women can think more like men.

Find out more about 'brain sex' differences by taking the Sex ID test, a series of visual challenges and questions used by psychologists in the BBC One television series Secrets of the Sexes.

Take the test.

Here are my results.

HAHA!!

A MOTHER PASSING BY HER SON'S BEDROOM WAS ASTONISHED TO SEE THE BED WAS
NICELY MADE AND EVERYTHING WAS PICKED UP. THEN SHE SAW AN ENVELOPE
PROPPED UP PROMINENTLY ON THE CENTRE OF THE BED. IT WAS ADDRESSED "MOM".
WITH THE WORST PREMONITION, SHE OPENED THE ENVELOPE AND READ THE LETTER
WITH TREMBLING HANDS:

DEAR MOM,

IT IS WITH GREAT REGRET AND SORROW THAT I'M WRITING THIS. I HAD TO ELOPE
WITH MY NEW GIRLFRIEND BECAUSE I WANTED TO AVOID A SCENE WITH YOU. I'VE
BEEN FINDING REAL PASSION WITH BARBARA AND SHE IS SO NICE EVEN WITH ALL
HER PIERCINGS, TATTOOS, AND HER TIGHT MOTORCYCLE CLOTHES.

BUT IT'S NOT ONLY THAT MOM, SHE'S PREGNANT AND BARBARA SAID THAT WE WILL
BE VERY HAPPY. EVEN THOUGH YOU WOULDN,T CARE FOR HER AS SHE IS MUCH
OLDER THAN I.
SHE ALREADY OWNS A SHACK IN THE WOODS AND HAS A STACK OF FIREWOOD FOR
THE WHOLE WINTER. SHE WANTS TO HAVE MANY MORE CHILDREN WITH ME AND
THAT'S NOW ONE OF MY DREAMS TOO.

BARBARA TAUGHT ME THAT MARIJUANA DOESN'T REALLY HURT ANYONE AND WE'LL BE
GROWING IT FOR OURSELVES AND TRADING IT WITH HER FRIENDS FOR ALL THE
COCAINE AND ECSTASY WE WANT. IN THE MEANTIME, WE'LL PRAY THAT SCIENCE
WILL FIND A CURE FOR AIDS SO BARBARA CAN GET BETTER; SHE SURE DESERVES
IT!!

DON'T WORRY MOM, I'M 15 YEARS OLD NOW AND I KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF
MYSELF.
SOME DAY I'M SURE WE'LL BE BACK TO VISIT, SO YOU CAN GET TO KNOW YOUR
GRANDCHILDREN.

YOUR SON,
JOHN

P.S. MOM, NONE OF THIS IS TRUE I'M OVER AT THE NEIGHBOUR'S HOUSE. I
JUST WANTED TO REMIND YOU THAT THERE ARE WORSE THINGS IN LIFE THAN MY
REPORT CARD THAT'S IN MY DESK CENTER DRAWER. I LOVE YOU! CALL WHEN
IT'S SAFE FOR ME TO COME HOME.

Happy Bluegrass Ryan!

Another year, another weekend sitting at UK School of Music Bluegrass Festival. One bonus for me is that I got all of my papers graded for the weekend! DONE! One sad thing for Ryan is that it was his birthday on Friday (16th) and he had to spend it here with kiddies. Oh well. Kinda tired today and I'm getting hungry. I need a mint; my mouth feels stale.

I Wish You Enough

My aunt sent me this in an e-mail. A good way to live life.
I hope you have a beautiful day and I wish you enough.

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye."

Central Grocery in New Orleans

This is another picture from our New Orleans trip. This was a little grocery store that had these WONDERFUL sandwiches called Muffalettas. Our friend Nancy (and Jerry) who went into New Orleans with us said that the Central Grocery was probably underwater. :( No more yummy, Muffaletta goodness.
(Again, you may not want to click on the picture because it will be HUGE.)

Picture of the Month-September 2005

A picture I took from Mom's, Dad's, and my trip to New Orleans. It's weird how people have to make personal connections, such as I am doing with this picture, to crisis or events that are dramatically life-altering.
(By the way, you may not want to click on the picture because I still don't have Photoshop on my computer and I didn't resize the picture, so it is at full resolution and size and will be HUGE.)

Great Sadness

Unbelievable tragedy in our country. I have been glued to the television each night when I come home, as I am sure many others have been.

It's strangely fascinating to consider how much we have in this country, how advanced of a society we are, yet we aren't prepared for something like this. It is unimaginable how long it will take to recover from this.

One story of many that I have heard, really gripped me and brought tears to my eyes. This was of a husband who lost his wife.

If you can, please help out somehow, maybe through the American Red Cross.

Soothsayer Eisenhower

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

-President Dwight D. Eisenhower, l952

Coolness!

So, today Dad, Mom, and Uncle Bud came down to install our cable lighting in our living room!! If you don't know, cable lighting is simply what it's name is, lighting that hangs from a cable strung from wall to wall in the room. It is REALLY cool! Thanks Dad and Bud!
And next we are off painting again tomorrow morning...three walls grey, one wall a rich cranberry! YAY! It's looking so good!

Identifying Pictures

This is kinda fun...for me mostly!

From Bret's blog:

1. What's the first word that comes to mind when you think of me?
2. Go to http://images.google.com and search for that word.
3. Reply to this post with one of the pictures on the first page of results (don't tell me the word).
4. Put this in your own blog so that I can do the same.

The Trolley Hop is another absolutely wonderful thing in Louisville. It's awesome how the city of Louisville is being revived with all kinds of cool things! Go check out their website and then go experience it for yourself. The Trolley Hops happen on the first Friday of each month. Ryan and I are going to go on the next one which is Friday, July 1st.

WHY Louisville

I got this website, WHYLouisville.com, from Courtney. It seems pretty cool. Check it out.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

So, I saw it. It was really good. I haven't been really interested in the new Star Wars movies, but this one I had no choice to see it or not. My school at which I work took all the kids to see it Thursday and Friday or last week. I was a chaperone for Friday, so instead of teaching in the morning I was eating popcorn and a 7-Up and enjoying Star Wars. (Kinda ridiculous.) Anyway, I recommend seeing it.

Storms Yikes!

Storms are coming. I hope it isn't a repeat of last year! If you don't know, last year about this time Southern Indiana and the metro-Louisville area were pounded by severe storms producing many tornadoes. It was crazy (but at the same time kinda exciting, I know at least one person will agree with me (Andy))!

January 2005 Picture of the Month

I know I am very late with this picture of the month, but my iBook has been in the shop, then I found out on Friday that it has been lost. Even though it has been a month since I shipped my computer off, all in all it will be a good thing because all of my information was backed up by Ryan and I get a new computer.
Anyway, as for the picture of the month, I was talking with Andy this morning about his new job he will be starting on Thursday. So in honor of it I thought I would put Andy in the WHAS Storm Team picture as the picture of the month. (That's not completely Andy, just his head if you couldn't figure it out.) Wow Andy, you look so young in this picture!
