I'm sure all of you have heard about the "Blackout of 2003" (I hate when the media labels things going on like that.) by now. That was pretty amazing! I had heard on the news last night that Indianapolis prevented us from losing power because we are on the same northeastern power grid. Interesting, huh?

ok, i would agree in general that it is annoying when the media give an event a flashy name, but i don't really see "Blackout of 2003" as one of those. Some might even say that is not at all over-the-top, but those are the supporters of the infamous "Flood of 1937" and "Blizzard of 1999." You can't trust those fuckers. At any rate, keep up the good fight against media labeling!
ReplyDeleteThey must have some little man cooped up in a tiny cubical and we when the nation has a "crisis" they run to him and say, "Give us a label!" That's all his job consists of.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just the label that they put on the "crisis", it's the hipe that they add to it. It's just ridiculous!
ReplyDeletehave you seen "Deep Impact?" It's about a meteor that's about to hit earth. One of the characters is a reporter, and it shows her in the newsroom where they're coming up with the graphics and music specifically for that crisis. It's sort of funny watching the guy with the little keyboard trying to come up with a ditty that's appropriate for the end of the world.
ReplyDeleteHA! That's awesome! That's EXACTLY what I'm talkin' about. I'll have to watch it sometime.
